We see a movement of youth that encounters God privately and publicly through intimacy and relationship. We see a movement of youth that is grounded in their identity because they are grounded in Gods love. We see a movement of youth that walks powerfully in freedom and purity across all areas of their lives because they know who they are in Christ. We see a movement of youth that walks in power and influences society wherever they go. We see a movement of youth that will disciple generations to walk and live like Jesus in this world.
Jesus defined his mission in Luke 4:18-19 by saying; “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me, To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives. And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”, (Luke 4:19-21, NKJV). Jesus also defined the mission of the disciples by saying, “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV). Similarly, Glory City Youth also has a mission. Our mission is to firstly, preach and demonstrate the gospel that we encountered which lead us into deep intimacy and relationship with God. Relationship and intimacy does not come from expectation but rather encountering Gods unconditional love. Secondly, our mission is to disciple and teach a generation their identity in Christ so they walk experientially in freedom and purity in all areas of their lives. Thirdly, our mission is to empower and equip a generation to preach and demonstrate the gospel whilst also discipling others.

At Glory City Youth we believe that discipleship is the natural byproduct of healthy relationships and connections with each other. Thus why, either weekly or fortnightly, Glory City Youth gathers in smaller groups as the CHURCH all throughout North, South, East, and West Brisbane with three clear focuses. The first focus is to grow in connection and relationship with each other in the context of family. The second focus is to disciple and teach a generation their identity in Christ so they walk in experiential freedom in every area of their life. The final and third focus is to equip and empower the youth to disciple and teach others their identity in Christ.

Focus #1
The first focus of our connect groups is to grow in connection and relationship with each other in the context of family. John 13:35 says, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another,” (John 13:35, ESV). We believe that relationship and connection is foundational to how we express love for one another, and believe that it leads to healthy friendships, and relationships that broadcast Gods love.

Focus #2
The second focus of our connect groups is to disciple and teach generation their identity in Christ so they walk in experiential freedom in every area of their life. We believe that it is ordained by God that we be discipled and go make disciples. The only distinction is that this is not our primary focus, and we refuse to treat people as projects. We believe that relationship and connections sets us up for healthier discipleship. We are called to disciple others, not create robots.

Focus #3
The final and third focus is to equip (give them the tools) and empower the youth to disciple and teach others their identity in Christ, in the context of family. In Glory City Youth Connect Groups, our goal is not to build Christian country clubs that are exclusive. Our goal is build relationship and connections with people that are inclusive so we are empowering each other to build the family of God. Thus, why we believe it is crucial that we focus on empowering others to disciples others.

Glory City Youth has a vision, and a mission. But the next question is how do we achieve that mission? When you want to go somewhere, you have a vision of where you are going, then you have an idea of what you need to do to get there. But, you also need to figure out how you are going to get there. When one wants to go get a coffee, they have a vision of getting a coffee, they have an idea of what they need to do achieve that vision of drinking a coffee. But to actually get there they need to figure out HOW they are going to get to the coffee shop. This person could drive a car, jump on a bus, or catch an Uber. Each vehicle is different, however the end goal is the same; to go to a coffee shop and drink coffee. Within Glory City Youth, we have our vision (where we are going), we have our mission (what we are going to do), but we need to figure out which vehicles we are going to use to get there. Thus, why the analogy of vehicles is being used.
