Connect
At Glory City Youth we believe that discipleship is the natural byproduct of healthy relationships and connections with each other. Thus why, either weekly or fortnightly, Glory City Youth gathers in smaller groups as the CHURCH all throughout North, South, East, and West Brisbane with three clear focuses. The first focus is to grow in connection and relationship with each other in the context of family. The second focus is to disciple and teach a generation their identity in Christ so they walk in experiential freedom in every area of their life. The final and third focus is to equip and empower the youth to disciple and teach others their identity in Christ.
Focus #1
The first focus of our connect groups is to grow in connection and relationship with each other in the context of family. John 13:35 says, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another,” (John 13:35, ESV). We believe that relationship and connection is foundational to how we express love for one another, and believe that it leads to healthy friendships, and relationships that broadcast Gods love.
Focus #2
The second focus of our connect groups is to disciple and teach generation their identity in Christ so they walk in experiential freedom in every area of their life. We believe that it is ordained by God that we be discipled and go make disciples. The only distinction is that this is not our primary focus, and we refuse to treat people as projects. We believe that relationship and connections sets us up for healthier discipleship. We are called to disciple others, not create robots.
Focus #3
The final and third focus is to equip (give them the tools) and empower the youth to disciple and teach others their identity in Christ, in the context of family. In Glory City Youth Connect Groups, our goal is not to build Christian country clubs that are exclusive. Our goal is build relationship and connections with people that are inclusive so we are empowering each other to build the family of God. Thus, why we believe it is crucial that we focus on empowering others to disciples others.
